International Collaborations
To pool the best technical resources in
order to accelerate the pace and quality of services rendered, JSPL has
transcended the national boundary and entered into various technical
agreements and international collaborations.
JFE (earlier known as NKK
Corporation) of Japan
JSPL has entered into a symbiotic
partnership with the JFE (earlier known as NKK Corporation) of Japan. In
collaboration with prestigious JFE, we produce superior quality, world's
longest rails of 120m-finished length, along with Parallel Flange Beams,
Columns and Sheet Piles for the first time in the country. JFE is a
reckoning group of Japan, supplying rails for high-speed bullet trains,
Shinkansen in Japan.
The terms of collaboration includes know-how transfer encompassing
steel-making, secondary refining and continuous casting up to rolling and
finishing of long rails and universal beams; deputation of JFE
multi-disciplinary specialists at the JSPL plant; and training of JSPL
personnel at JFE steelworks in Japan.
The cutting edge benefits we enjoy because of our partnership with JFE
includes:
- Production of long rails that require far less joints in tracks
- Ushering a new era in safer rail-travel
- Enabling introduction of fast trains in India

Lurgi South Africa
JSPL has entered into technical services agreement with Lurgi (South
Africa) for producing Syn Gas from Coal. Herein the technology is called as
Fixed Bed Dry Bottom Coal Gasification process. This coal gas is substitute
for Natural Gas and the quantity produced by this will suffice for DRI (as
reducing agent) as well as other plants (as fuel).
The advantage of this technology is to use our own indigenous coal
available and at the same time it is the most environment friendly
technology.
Danieli - DRI

JSPL has entered into technical services
agreement with Danieli (Italy) for producing DRI (Direct Reduced Iron).
Herein the DRI producing technology is called as Danarex. This DRI (hot or
cold) will be feed to EAF for producing liquid steel. The capacity of the
first DRI plant will be 2 Million TPA, largest in the world.
The advantage of this technology is uniform quality and Hi Carbon, which in
turn will stabilize the EAF operations, without adversely impacting the
environment.

5.0 Mtr Wide Plate Mill
from VAI-Siemens
JSPL has entered into technical services agreement with VAI-Siemens to
establish a 5.0 Mtr. wide Plate Mill. As part of our forward integration
completing the process chain to produce Value-added Finished Product, we
intend to establish a 5.0 Mtr. wide Plate Rolling Mill as downstream to our
steel making capacity. Products from the envisaged widest plate mill of
India are discrete plates in straight lengths for feeding to various pipe
making plants.
Plate Mill has been envisaged with following considerations:
- For manufacturing longitudinal welded pipes & spiral-welded
pipes.
- For Bridge, Automobile Beam, Boiler and high pressure Vessel
making
- For ship building
