The O P Jindal Group is a US $8 billion
conglomerate, which over the last three decades has emerged as one of
India's most dynamic business groups.
Founded in 1952 by Late Shri O. P. Jindal, a first-generation entrepreneur, it is today, a leading steel producer, with interests spanning across the spectrum, from mining iron ore, to manufacturing value-added steel products.
Late Shri Om Prakash Jindal, the group founder, started off in a small village in Haryana by trading in steel pipes. He established a manufacturing plant near Kolkata in 1952, producing steel pipes, bends and sockets. The visionary entrepreneur then expanded to Hisar in Haryana, setting up steel pipes manufacturing unit.
Today, the O P Jindal group is a multi-billion, multi-locational, multi-product business empire. From mining iron ore and coal, the group produces sponge iron, ferro alloys and a wide range of hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel products ranging from HR Coils/Sheets/Plates, Hot-Rolled Structural Sections and Rails, CR Coils/Sheets, High-grade Pipes and value added items such as Galvanized steel & Coated pipes. It has also diversified into power generation. The group has manufacturing facilities across India, US and Indonesia and marketing/representative offices across the globe.

The core team of the group comprises the four sons of the founder. Mr Prithviraj Jindal manages three companies-Jindal Saw Ltd., Jindal United Steel Inc.(USA), and Saw Pipes Inc. (USA). Mr Sajjan Jindal looks after JSW Steel Ltd., Jindal Thermal Power Company Ltd., South West Port Ltd., Jindal Praxair Oxygen Company Ltd. and Southern Iron and Steel Company Ltd. Mr Ratan Jindal manages Jindal Stainless Ltd., while Mr Naveen Jindal looks after Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. and Jindal Power Ltd.
