Ready with modern equipment and top-notch capabilities, this division was established in 1992 with facilities for manufacturing of equipment and spares required for the sponge iron plants of its various units.
Apart from catering to sponge iron needs, the machinery division has upgraded its manufacturing facilities to meet the requirements of other units of the Jindal group. It also caters to the requirements of other industries in the vicinity.
The facility undertakes the production of a large number of heavy machinery equipments and spares for diverse industries such as metallurgical, mining, material handling and process industries.

The machinery division adheres to stringent quality norms and has been certified ISO 9001 for its commitment towards quality management systems. The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art quality testing and inspection facilities like the universal testing machine, image analyzer system, spectrometer, Izod –Charpy impact testing machine, tool scan, hardness tester, etc.
The Raipur division is multifaceted and has approved manufacturing capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum of manufacturing equipment and castings. The unit can produce single-piece steel castings of up to 7.5 tonnes and has a handling facility of up to 80 tonnes.
The machinery division is all set to expand its capacity for carrying out timely execution of JSPL’s upcoming projects and minimize dependence on external vendors. On completion of its expansion, the division will have 18 CNC machines (horizontal boring, milling, lathe, etc.) and many other world class facilities like CNC flame cutting machine, etc. The expansion is in progress and is projected to be completed by FY 2009-10. The in-house capacity after expansion will go up to 8,000 tonnes/annum from the existing 3500 tonnes/annum. The estimated investment is more than Rs. 100 crore. |
