Ecological Conservation

We are implementing the concept of Green Productivity, which will further enable us to contribute to the cause of sustainable development. Planning and maintenance of green belts in and around our various facilities is also a part of our conscious strategy to control pollution and conserve natural resources.

Major steps taken towards promoting a greener environment:

We have taken large-scale bio diversified afforestation and horticulture activities. Massive tree plantation drive is taken every year. Till now more than 1 million plantations have been done and due to proper maintenance, over 85% survival rate is achieved. More than 20% area of complex is converted in to green area Target set for plantation of 3 million tree sapling Various nurseries developed to propagate saplings of forestry species and ornamental species A number of nurseries like Sanjivani Nursery, Vasundhara Nursery, Taru Mitra Nursery and Green Wood have been established. Many beautiful gardens have also been developed, wherever possible, for employees and their children. We have established the Kamla Nehru Park in Raigarh (Chhattisgarh) with an investment of over Rs 25 lacs. It has various exotic bird species A botanical garden named Sanjeeveni Botanical Park is being established where rare plants, foliage, cactus and herbal plants are being collected. We distribute saplings to nearby villages and needy people to promote ecological conservation drive. Rainwater harvesting is also done in the complex.

House keeping Activities:
We are also giving a lot of thrust on housekeeping. Teams have been made in different areas to take care of housekeeping of their respective departments. This has generated lots of interest and due to which waste generation has reduced considerably. A Vehicular Road sweeping machine has been imported from Italy for housekeeping of roads.

Environmental Laboratory:
Regular monitoring is done to assess the environmental quality and take corrective/ preventive actions, if required. An Environmental Laboratory has been established which is equipped with all kinds of sophisticated instruments for analysis (on air, water, soil samples noise and meteorological parameters).
