Striving to create a model for management of natural resources, we at JSPL, are fulfilling our responsibilities towards cleaner environment in an earnest manner. We believe that a high performance sustainable organization rests on pillars of economic, social and environmental pursuance.

Following a holistic approach, we have accepted the challenge to manufacture and process steel & power without adversely impacting the environment and at the same time improving the quality of life of the employees working at our plants.

We seek to actively promote the clean environment by complying with all the legal requirements and adopting environmentally friendly technologies. From water and air pollution control to successful solid waste management, we contribute to the noble cause of not only preserving the environment but also adding value to it by adopting eco- friendly practices.

A look at some of our key initiatives to CURB POLLUTION
We have implemented Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) for preventive maintenance and better process control. All the latest pollution control systems, relevant to our industry, have been installed in our operations.

Control of Air Pollution
  • Dust Settling Chambers and ESPs (Electro Static Precipitators) have been installed in Sponge Iron Plant and Waste Heat Recovery Boilers to discharge dust free gas
  • High efficiency ESPs have been Installed in captive power plant
  • Discharge of filtered air through dust collectors and wet venturi scrubber in Producer Gas Plant & Limekiln unit.
  • Installation of fume extraction system and bag filters to control emission in Steel Melting Shop
  • Installation of FDC with de-dusting system, bag filter to control air pollution in Submerged Arc Furnace
  • Cyclone and two-stage venturi scrubber installed in Blast Furnace to control emission.
  • Fugitive emission is controlled by bag filters in transfer points of raw material handling in all units.
  • Water sprinkling system is adopted to reduce fugitive emission in coal handling section.
  • Good house keeping is maintained to eliminate unwanted fugitive emission and internal roads are made pucca.
  • Installation of water-spraying system in RMH and wagon tippler unit to control the fugitive emissions.
