Diversifying its business towards establishing a cement plant.

After its successful stint in the steel and power sectors, JSPL plans to diversify its business operations to set up a 2.0 million tonne per annum capacity slag and fly ash cement plant at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.

The plant is located in close proximity to the existing steel unit at Raigarh, about 2 km away.

JSPL intends to reach a production capacity of 2 MTPA cement and follow a backward integration plan by utilising slag from the blast furnace and fly ash from the power plant, respectively.  A projected kiln capacity of 3500 TPD has also been targeted and the construction will take 24 months.

An MoU between the Government of Chhattisgarh and JSPL was signed on 30th March 2007 for installing the cement plant. The project will be completed in two phases. In the first phase, the construction of a 0.5 MTPA slag grinding unit and in the second phase, the 2.0 MTPA cement plant will be completed.
